I knew nothing about Jennifer Lawrence, but because rottentomatoes.com gave such a high rating to Winter's Bone my wife and I went to see it and was introduced to this actress. It was a great story with some tough material and Jennifer's character Ree went through some pretty tough times. First line on the summary in imdb.com is "With an absent father and a withdrawn and depressed mother, 17 year-old Ree Dolly keeps her family together in a dirt poor rural area."...sound familiar. She has a little brother that she protects and tries to keep fed. The role she played could have come from the Hunger Games. I feel that Katniss is quite pretty and would not have thought Jennifer would have been good looking enough for the role. However, at the Academy Awards I was stunned at her look there and could almost see the transformation happening right before the Hunger Games began. Kaya or Lyndsy were my top picks. I hope that Jennifer Lawrence is as good an actress as people say she is, given the physical differences. In the end it doesn't matter though. The most imprortant thing is that whoever does Katniss, gets her. Katniss wasn't made out to be some dainty, superficial girl, as modern day girls can be. Before she went to the games she had hairy legs and didn't do anything to enhance her natural appearance. Peeta and Gale admired her for her integrity and strength. If Lawrence can bring out the traits of Katniss that we all have come to adore than it won't matter. I'm just saying, Suzanne is substantially involved in the making of the movie, and she is also the master who created the whole sega. We have to trust that whoever she goes along with will do Katniss justice.

I just read the book and I think DF could portray her well. Katniss has a fragility about her (because she's starving pretty much though the whole thing!) yet she has some good strengths. DF gets my vote!
